NEW DELHI: Maintaining that the fight against Covid-19 cannot be only the PMO, leader of the Congress Rahul Gandhi on Friday he asked the prime minister to delegate power and make states partner in decision-making.

Gandhi also called on the government to immediately put money in the hands of the poor and provide a package to industry to help revive the economy.

“We need to decentralize power to deal with the virus. If we keep this fight in PMO, we will lose. The prime minister must delegate power. If we centralize, there will be a calamity. “We have to protect job creators and we have to build a wall to protect jobs and workers’ wages. We have to give them financial support,” Gandhi said.
The former president of Congress said the economic package is being delayed as the government feels that India could be downgraded by international agencies.
“We need to start our home economy soon, the longer we lose, the worse the impact will be,” he said.
