BENGALURU: People from Karnataka Stranded in other states and opting for public transportation to return, you may have to wait longer since your home state does not yet flash the green signal. At the time of going to the press on Thursday, 63,000 people had requested passes through Seva Sindhu to return to Karnataka, of whom 30,000 sought government transportation, increasingly putting pressure on the state machinery.

These applicants include technology employees, tourists, pilgrims, students, and other professionals.
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education and the Minister of Sakala, Suresh Kumar S, told TOI: “To date, public transportation has not been allowed in Karnataka. We are preparing infrastructure at the checkpoints. We will examine each individual before he or she enters Karnataka. There have also been discussions with other states to facilitate movement. ”
Although the minister did not share a deadline, he said there have been discussions about how to allow people to travel in red zones. Senior Seva Sindhu officials and nodal officers monitoring the situation kept their mouths shut about it.
After approving around 5,000 passes for people who will be traveling in their own vehicles, the state has halted as it is still building infrastructure at checkpoints for projections. Akshay S, who works with a major steel plant in Odisha, said: “When the government is so interested in bringing Indians trapped in other countries by flying planes, why can’t they do it for people who are trapped in other states? ”
Checkpoints are still being prepared
Samir Tiwari, a Bangalore technician trapped in Mumbai, said he had applied for the pass on May 2 and is stuck. “My wife is in Pune and I am in Mumbai. We have been requesting a pass, but it is still under verification, ”he said.
“Checkpoints have been identified for entry and deputy commissioners from the respective districts are preparing the infrastructure for screening. However, it could take longer as other states are not as responsive as Karnataka, “said a source.
Nodal officers not available
The government has appointed nodal officers to coordinate with other states to bring and send people.
However, most of the officers’ numbers are muted amid a frenzy of requests for clarification. Nodal officials say they are meant to coordinate with other states, while the stranded wondered if it was not their responsibility to also examine pending approvals.
