The Green National Court (NGT) on Friday ordered LG Polymers India to deposit an initial amount of Rs 50 for the damage caused by the gas leak in Visakhapatnam.
A bank headed by NGT President Judge Adarsh Kumar Goel also issued a notice to the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board, the Central Pollution Control Board and the Union Ministry of the Environment, requesting his response to the incident before May 18.
The green panel also formed a five-member investigative committee, to be chaired by a former High Court judge from A.P., to investigate the incident and report to the court.
