45 new cases reported in a single day

Bangalore: Karnataka recorded 45 new cases of coronavirus on Friday, bringing the state number to 750.

Among these, 371 people have been cured and discharged, while a total of 30 people have succumbed to the virus.

Seven cases were reported in Bangalore, all of which were contacts of previously infected patients. A 19-year-old boy, a 22-year-old man, a 40-year-old man and a 25-year-old man have all contracted the virus from patient number 653.

The source and contacts of the other three patients, a 23-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman, have yet to be found.

10 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Hirebagewadi of the Belagavi district, while a man tested positive for Kudachi in Belagavi.

A 37-year-old woman has been infected with the virus in Ballari and contacts are being tracked for her.

At Devanagere, 14 people tested positive for the virus, all of whom were found after the contact tracing process.

On the other hand, 12 people in the Bhatkal city of Uttara Kannada have contracted the contagious virus from patient number 659 in the state.

Meanwhile, hundreds of migrant workers packed the Mangaluru railway station on Friday upon learning that the Karnataka government would operate special trains to their home states and demanded that they be dispatched immediately. The workers, mostly from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, remained at the station and refused to disperse, despite several calls from the police.
