Now, the Ghaziabad municipal administration has called on the residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) and local councilors to advise doctors and health care personnel working in Delhi to stay there and not return to their homes. homes. Many RWAs and societies in Ghaziabad immediately started issuing notices to doctors and health workers to find temporary arrangements in Delhi.
“This is a discriminatory order, one day you cannot shower flowers, throw stones another day, and then send instructions to our RWAs not to let us return to our homes. The government should help combat stigma, not promote it. RWAs or counselors should not have such powers to restrict physicians or healthcare workers, “said Dr. Srinivas, secretary general of the Association of Resident Doctors (RDA), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
AIDA RDA wrote a letter to the Minister of the Interior, Amit Shah, requesting him to intervene in the matter. “Several residential societies issue notices and restrict the entry of healthcare providers during this critical time as they face a pandemic, which has amplified the shortage of human resources in various parts of the country. Doctors, nurses and other paramedical personnel involved in COVID19 tasks face the additional stress of requesting passes to travel from Ghaziabad, Noida and Haryana to the various government / private hospitals in Delhi, ”the letter says.
Calling it “discriminatory”, the Indian Medical Association has also opposed the Ghaziabad administration’s notice.
Ghaziabad, the administration issued a clarification, saying: “The order should not be mandatory. The appeal was made taking into account the increasing number of COVID cases and the suggestion of the surveillance team to restrict border movement.”
But it appears the damage has already been done, as more and more RWAs are issuing notices to doctors and HCWs not to return to their homes.
