At least 22 migrant workers, who had returned from Telangana, fled a quarantine center in the Maoist-affected Dantewada district of the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Thursday night.
Dantewada district collector Topeshwar Verma told the Hindustan Times that farm workers were quarantined about 12 km from their hometown of Nahadi, which is in the central Maoist area of the district.
“They arrived in Aranpur on Thursday and all were medically examined by the health team. Subsequently, they were held in quarantine facilities at a police station from which they escaped Thursday night, “the Compiler said.
The officer said a total of 47 migrant workers returned from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to Dantewada and were held at a quarantine facility in the Aranpur police station area before being allowed to go to their native villages.
“No coronavirus symptoms were found in these workers,” said the gatherer.
“We have informed sarpanch and the secretary of the town concerned panchayat, but so far they have not reached their town. Currently it is not possible for the administration and the police to reach the village of Nahadi because it is the central area of the Maoists, ”said the Collector.
No Covid-19 cases were reported in the Bastar division, which comprises seven districts: Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Sukma, and Bijapur.
A total of 59 cases have been reported in Chhattisgarh so far in which 38 recovered and were discharged from the hospital.
