India added around 3,000 coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 52,952. Maharashtra witnessed an explosion of new cases. Up to 1,233 people tested positive for the new coronavirus in the state, the highest increase in a single day so far.
The number of deaths rose to 89 on Wednesday. Maharashtra reported the highest number of fatalities in the past 24 hours: 38 people died in the state due to COVID-19 disease.
Maharashtra confirmed more than 1,200 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the state’s COVID-19 count to 16,758. The number of deaths in the state increased to 651. Maharashtra had the highest number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the country.
Tamil Nadu also saw the highest peak in the daily coronavirus count. The state confirmed 771 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The total number of coronavirus cases in the state was 4,829. After Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu became the second state in the country to report more than 700 cases.
Coronavirus cases in Delhi continue to rise as the state registered 428 new coronavirus patients in the past 24 hours. The national capital reported 5,532 cases of COVID-19.
In India, 30% recovered from coronavirus disease. Some 15,267 people were discharged from the hospital. Kerala showed a recovery rate of 92%, the highest in India. Of 4,829 patients in Tamil Nadu, 1,516 people were cured. In Madhya Pradesh, 1,099 people were discharged from the hospital. In Rajasthan, 1,596 people recovered from the disease.
