With 428 new Covid-19 cases, Delhi witnesses the highest peak in a single day

The number of new coronavirus infections in Delhi rose to 5,532 on Wednesday after 428 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, the largest single-day increase so far, the government said.

The death toll from the Covid-19 pandemic rose to 65 with one fatality after a three-day gap, according to the Delhi government.

So far, 1,542 patients have recovered, while there are 3,925 active cases, the Health Department said, adding that 84 patients were in the ICU and 12 on ventilators.

The number of containment areas in Delhi has been reduced to 88, the department said.

An order has been issued on the standard operating procedure for the transfer of asymptomatic or mild symptomatic Covid-19 patients from hospitals to care facilities, and the transfer of moderately or severely affected patients from care facilities to hospitals, according to the bulletin.

According to the statement, an order has been issued on guidelines for the effective follow-up and monitoring of people, who are suspected of being infected with Covid-19 and are being tested at various accredited laboratories in Delhi.
