The country is under a total blockade that will be in effect until May 17.

Coronavirus in India: India may be months away from seeing the decrease in its daily number of positive cases of COVID-19 infection, which has crossed 50,000 marks. Until April 30, India’s daily number of positive cases was less than 2000. However, that changed suddenly and now for the past week the country has been registering between 3,000 and 4,000 new cases daily. This Tuesday, the Ministry of Health said that the country had registered the highest peak in a single day with 3900 new cases in the last 24 hours. But this is not the peak yet.

Today, AIIMS-Delhi Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said that based on modeling data and how the numbers have increased, the peak may still be more than a month away and is likely to come in June and July. He did, however, say that there were many variables. “Only with time, we will know how effective they are and the effect of extending the blockade,” Guleria said as he spoke to the ANI news agency.

The country is under complete blockade, which will be in effect until May 17. This is the third phase of the full block, which was first announced on March 25 for three weeks. The blockade slowed down the rate of infection, but cases continued to increase. To date, India has reported 52,952 cases, of which 15,267 have recovered and 1,783 have died. Among the top five states affected by Covid are Maharashtra (16,758 cases), Gujarat (almost 6,625), Delhi (5,532), Tamil Nadu (5,400), and Rajasthan (3,400).

In these states, there are few cities that have reported the highest number of cases, such as Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Indore, Hyderabad, Pune and Jaipur. Of 16,758 cases from Maharashtra, 10,714 are from Mumbai. Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Indore in Madhya Pradesh have also become the main hotspots.
