Explosion at the NLC India Thermal Power Plant in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu: An explosion at the NLC India thermal power plant in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu has left at least 8 people seriously injured, according to the PTI report.
The explosion occurred in a boiler at Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, according to initial reports.
The blaze resulting from the explosion caused severe burns to two contract workers and injured six others, according to the PTI report.
An NLC official was informed by PTI that the explosion that occurred at the sixth unit of the NLC India II Thermal Power Plant on Thursday night left two workers seriously injured by burns.
The officer added that the pressure caused the explosion in the plant’s boiler, followed by a sudden fire that injured six workers and two technicians.
PTI reported that the boiler at NLC India Thermal Power Station-II is 84 meters high and at the time of the accident the workers and technicians were about 32 meters high.
Power generation at the NLC plant was halted after the accident, and the wounded were transferred to a private hospital in Tiruchirappalli, the report added.
The NLC India Thermal Power Station-II is a 1,470 MW facility located in the Cuddalore of Tamil Nadu and has seven units of 210 MW each currently generating 450 MW of energy.
