Coronavirus India: More than 8,000 people in India have contracted coronavirus infection.

Red, Orange, and Green – The color code for traffic lights will now be used on the country map for COVID-19 and virus-free zones, and therefore the movement of people. After a meeting with at least 13 chief ministers yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had indicated that the blockade will be extended, but there will be relaxation in certain areas and cases to ensure the survival of the economy as well.
This is where color coding comes in, some of the participating top ministers, including Puduchery’s chief ministers, told the media after the meeting.
The green areas will be districts where there is no COVID-19 case. Sources said there are 400 districts, where there have been no COVID-19 cases.
The orange zones will be places that saw less than 15 cases and there has been no increase in the number of positive cases. Here, minimal activities such as opening limited public transportation, harvesting agricultural products will be allowed.
Any place that has had more than 15 cases will be considered a Red zone, where there will be no activity.
Underlining the importance of reviving the economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said yesterday: “In my first speech I said, ‘Jaan hai a jahaan hai (if there is life, the world will exist).’ Now we must look at Jaan bhi, jahaan bhi (life and the world), ”
The 21-day national “curfew-like” blockade, announced in the Prime Minister’s first speech on March 14, has hit the nation hard.
The World Bank has forecast that India will see growth of just 1.5-2.8 percent in its current financial year, below the 4.8-5.0 percent expected for the year just ended.
The Prime Minister indicated yesterday that relaxations will be allowed in the infrastructure sector, where the confinement hit the livelihood of thousands of migrant workers. Relaxation is also expected in the agricultural sector, crucial before the harvest season.
The Interior Ministry is also expected to present a list of sectors where the relaxations are likely to be allowed. This will include food processing, aviation, pharmaceuticals, industries, construction, etc., but social distancing will be the norm.
