NEW DELHI: On Sunday, the Indian Air Force conducted air flights across India to show its appreciation to the thousands of health workers battling the coronavirus pandemic.
The air liftoff was an effort by the country’s armed forces to honor doctors, paramedics, sanitation personnel, the police and other front-line workers fighting the virus.
IAF helicopters and jet planes, including Mig-29, Sukhoi-30 and Jaguar, conducted air flights and Army gangs played patriotic tunes outside of medical buildings in most districts of the country from east to west and from North to south.

Armed forces rained petals at Goa Medical School, SNM Hospital in Leh, Jaipur in Rajasthan, Rajpath and the Police Monument in Delhi, Lake Sukhna in Chandigarh, Dal Lake in Srinagar, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, Panchkula Hospitals in Haryana and the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhubaneswar.

The medical fraternity and other crown warriors were seen gathered outside Covid-19 hospitals and other government buildings with their hands on their chests to honor respect for the efforts of the armed forces.

The gesture of thanks began with the placement of flowers by the three chiefs of service at the Delhi Police Memorial in the morning to honor the police personnel deployed for the implementation of the national blockade.

The gesture of gratitude was expressed at a time when 1,301 people died and nearly 40,000 are infected with the deadly novel coronavirus or the Covid-19 pandemic across the country.

Military gangs also play “patriotic songs” outside various civilian hospitals treating coronavirus patients across the country.
The Eastern Naval Command and the Western Naval Command illuminated a series of ships at anchor from 7:30 pm to midnight.

Here is a look at some of the air flights carried out by the armed forces to honor the Covid warriors:
Two IAF C-130J Super-Hercules special operations transport aircraft fly over Lake Sukhna in Chandigarh. The plane took off from Srinagar, J&K and flew to Trivandrum in Kerala.

The IAF helicopter placed flower petals at the Police Memorial to the Fallen to express tribute to police officers for their contribution in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
