The number of coronavirus deaths in the United States increased by 1,883 in the past 24 hours, a count by Johns Hopkins University showed on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to nearly 65,000.
The Baltimore-based university had recorded more than 1.1 million cases across the country at 8:30 p.m. Friday (0030 GMT Saturday), with 64,789 deaths, an increase of three percent from the previous day. The United States has by far the highest number of deaths of any country in the global pandemic.
Globally, 3,400,278 people have been infected with coronaviruses so far, and the total number of deaths from the disease is 239,570. The nations affected with the most cases of coronavirus today are the USA. USA (1,131,030) Spain (242,988), Italy (207,428), the United Kingdom (177,454), France (167,346) and Germany (164,077).
In India, the number of cases has crossed the 35,000 mark, while the number of deaths exceeds 1,150. All major urban centers, including Delhi and Mumbai, have been identified as ‘red zones’ or areas with a large number of cases; therefore, many relaxations beyond those already allowed for those involved in essential services would not apply to them.
Outside the containment zone within the Red Zones, certain additional activities will be prohibited, including the use of rickshaws and auto-rickshaws, the handling of taxis and taxi aggregators, the use of buses within the district, and between districts, as well as barber shops, spas and salons.
Special trains also began operating on Friday, which was also Labor Day, to help thousands of migrant workers stranded for more than a month in various urban centers.
