The Telangana government wrote to several states on Thursday, telling them to make their own arrangements for the return of migrant workers, tourists, students and others stranded in the region due to the closure.
The issue was discussed at a meeting held by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Wednesday night, following a central government order allowing the return of stranded people in different parts of the country.
The Telangana government has nominated Senior IEE officer Sandeep Kumar Sultania as the nodal authority to oversee the transportation of stranded migrant workers and others to their places of origin, according to the protocol suggested by the Center. You will be assisted by a team of officers.
According to an official statement, the chief secretary said a letter would be written to his counterparts in all states to provide details of the people in their respective states who are stranded in Telangana. These states must make their own arrangements for the transfer of stranded passengers to their destinations.
Somesh Kumar asked stranded people who want to go home to contact their home state to arrange transportation. “The Telangana government will allow stranded people to move to their native states,” he said.
He asked the chief secretaries of the other states to advise their nodal authorities to contact the nodal authority of Telangana to facilitate the movement of the stranded people.
“Our nodal authority will organize the control of people and the issuance of passes to asymptomatic people to undertake the journey,” he said.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh has also started a similar exercise to see the safe return of stranded people to their respective states.
State Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney, who participated in the video conference with Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba in the morning, discussed the matter with her senior officials and instructed that necessary steps be taken to bring Telugu workers stranded in other states. back to the state.
State Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who formed a Group of Ministers to monitor the Covid-19 situation in the state and take appropriate action, asked them to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to send the people stranded at their destinations.
At the same time, the government would also take all measures for the safe return of migrant workers and construction workers from Andhra Pradesh stranded in various states to their respective districts.
