Riddhima Kapoor Sahni watched Father Rishi Kapoor’s funeral on a video call as he was unable to communicate with Mumbai due to the national closure.

On a typical day, the entire Kapoor family would have said goodbye to their favorite patriarch, Rishi Kapoor. But Bollywood’s Chintu left on April 30, a day when the entire country is blocked and movement is restricted. Rishi Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima wrote on Instagram that she would miss FaceTiming her father every day. That she would miss him every day. And Face Time is what helped her see her father’s latest rites.

In photos from the funeral, Ranbir Kapoor’s girlfriend Alia Bhatt can be seen holding her phone and streaming the images live. An inconsolable Neetu Kapoor and Rima Jain stand next to Alia, to see Rishi’s latest journey.

Riddhima, who was unable to be physically present at the Chandanwadi crematorium in Mumbai, saw Ranbir and the family performing the last rites. Riddhima Kapoor Sahni is supposed to arrive in Mumbai sometime tomorrow night. He has to drive 1,400 kilometers from the capital to Mumbai. There are no flights. There are no trains. There is simply no other way to get to Mumbai.

While Riddhima sought a special police permit in Delhi and obtained a pass, he will arrive in Mumbai only tomorrow.

The Kapoor family brought Rishi’s remains from the HN Reliance Hospital to the Chandanwadi Crematorium, while Ranbir led the hearse. A handful of people attended the funeral because no type of public gathering is allowed under this closure. Only 20 of Rishi Kapoor’s close friends and family could be part of his latest journey. The rest of India had to say goodbye in silence, like their daughter Riddhima, to their favorite Chintu.
