On the other hand, there has been a slight increase in numbers in West Bengal and Bihar. West Bengal has almost doubled its numbers in the past week, from 318 on April 20 to 613 now. Bihar, who until recently, had been reporting cases In single digits, he has seen his numbers jump from 170 on April 23 to 346 on Monday night.

The top five states continue to contribute more than 70 percent of the countries’ new cases. On Monday, the states that reported the maximum number of cases, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh accounted for 1,152 of the 1,515 new cases, or 76 percent. Adding the daily increase for Madhya Pradesh and Bihar as well, the top seven states accounted for 85 percent of all new cases.
