Sequoia has shortlisted 15 startups for the third cohort of the Surge program

Venture capital firm Sequoia Capital on Monday (April 27) announced the names of the 15 startups shortlisted for the third cohort of the Surge program. Surge is a 15-week program that started online on April 13.
Out of 15, seven startups have been selected from India. An Indian startup, which is a direct consumer brand (DTC), currently operates stealthily. So far, the selected startups have raised around $ 39 Mn in their Surge rounds.
As part of the program, Surge invests $ 1Mn to $ 2Mn of seed capital with business start-up workshops, global immersion trips and the support of a community of founders. Entrepreneurs like Byju Raveendran of BYJU, Deepinder Goyal of Zomato, Kunal Shah of Cred, Girish Mathrubootham of Freshworks are some of the notable mentors of the show.
Shortlisted startups span a wide range of sectors, including SaaS, business technology, consumer services, fitness, food and beverage (F&B), edtech, and healthtech.
For the third cohort, Sequoia used the Zoom video conferencing platform, the Surge app, and other digital tools to ensure that the quality of the tutoring was not affected due to the Covid-19 crash.
