On Saturday, a nurse at a civic hospital in north Delhi tested positive for coronavirus, after which the facility was closed, authorities said.
The Hindu Rao Hospital, run by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, has been temporarily closed for disinfection and contact tracing, they said.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the national capital on Saturday increased to 2,625, with 111 new cases and a new death reported in one day, according to Delhi government authorities.
“Late on Saturday afternoon, a nurse on duty at Hindu Rao Hospital was found positive for COVID-19. Since she has been on duty at various locations on campus for the past two weeks, we are closing the hospital until that we are fully sanitized and complete contact tracing, “said NDMC Commissioner Varsha Joshi.
Only a few patients are currently admitted to the gynecology room, and appropriate arrangements will be made for them, he said.
“There appears to be definitive negligence at some level here,” he said, adding, “We will have a thorough investigation into this aspect.”
Meanwhile, NDMC officials said a DBC worker’s test report has been conflicting, so many workers have been retested at Hindu Rao Hospital on Saturday, and the results will arrive on Sunday.
These people are staying in a community room in the Tikona Park area, and decided not to go home until their test results come out, they said.
In addition, on Saturday, the NDMC issued standard operating procedures and orders to all staff members on how to suspect or quarantine suspected cases.
