Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered officers on Saturday (April 25) not to allow a public meeting in the state until June 30 amid the coronavirus outbreak. According to the Office of the Chief Minister, CM Adityanath has instructed officials to ensure that no public meetings are held in the state until June 30.
The request will be reviewed depending on the situation, the CMO added amid speculation that the coronavirus blockade may be extended further.
“The prime minister has ordered officials not to allow the public meeting until June 30. More decisions will be made depending on the situation,” the UP CMO statement read.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with the chairs of 11 state committees on the COVID-19 situation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a 21-day national shutdown starting March 25. On the last day of the shutdown, he addressed the nation and extended the shutdown until May 3.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 1,621 in Uttar Pradesh with 25 deaths.
