GHAZIABAD: The district administration on Tuesday banned the movement of people between Ghaziabad and Delhi on closure orders, an official said.
The ban led to chaos on the highway with large numbers of travelers stranded on either side of the border.
People with valid passes and who are dedicated to essential and emergency services will be able to move between the two cities, said district magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey.
There is no relaxation on the closing orders, and the industries and offices in the district will not be open. The previous orders and conditions would remain in the same condition when the closure was declared, he said.
Two societies, KDP and Girnar, which were Covid-19 containment areas, have been opened, while the Islam Nagar colony and the Indira puram ATS society have been sealed, the official said.
A total of 15 societies are sealed off and declared critical zones, the DM said.
Pandey said that as of Monday night, the health department received 311 samples, including from the ATS society, and 307 were negative for Covid-19 and four positive.
