87 new cases in Punjab, another death in Mohali: The Tribune India

With 87 new cases reported today, the state count has reached 1,731. With one death in SAS Nagar, the total number has risen to 29.

According to the media bulletin, Gurdaspur topped the list with 24 cases today, followed by SBS Nagar with 18 cases, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran and Amritsar 11 cases each, Kapurthala five, Fatehgarh Sahib four, and Mansa, Bathinda and Barnala one case. each.

Amritsar reported 11 new cases. The district’s total patient count for Covid has reached 287, the highest in the state. In addition to the cases of Nanded returnees, a local resident admitted to a hospital in Patiala has also tested positive.

Civil surgeon Dr. Jugal Kishore said they had received 219 test reports that were negative. He said that the condition of all patients in district hospitals was stable.

Meanwhile, the Tarn Taran district reported 11 new positive cases today. With this, the district’s patient count has reached 157, the third highest in the state. The two border districts, Amritsar and Tarn Taran, account for more than 25 percent of the total Punjab cases.

With 11 more positive cases today, Jalandhar’s count reached 158. Positive ones in Jalandhar include three Nanded returnees, all female, 55, 30 and 30 years old.

In Kapurthala, five Phagwara residents who returned from Nanded tested positive on Friday. Currently, 38 patients are admitted to the Civil Hospital, Phagwara, and their samples have been sent for analysis. Their reports are awaiting.

According to the Health Department, so far, samples of 37,950 suspected cases have been sent for analysis. Of these, 31,219 samples were negative and 5,000 reports were still awaited.
