Local villagers jumped in to rescue the people in the boat before the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force arrived at the scene. A search for the missing persons is underway.
Seven bodies have been removed from the water.
Police said the missing people may have swam to the other side of the river for safety.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the families of those who died in the accident and expressed their condolences. “The incident of a boat capsizing near the Chambal in Kota is regrettable.
