Seven Bihar workers were killed and one was injured when a vehicle in which they were traveling fell from a bridge into a stream in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday night, police said.
The Mahindra pickup fell from the Gharat Bridge on the Mandi-Ner Chowk Highway.

The workers had come by bus from Ludhiana and were to disembark at Ner Chowk, where the contractor who hired them lived, but forgot to do so. The contractor then sent a van to take them to Ner Chowk. from the Mandi bus stop.
Mandi SP Shalini Agnihotri said six people died at the scene, while two wounded were taken to a local hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries. He added that the driver of the vehicle was injured and was undergoing treatment at Mandi hospital.
The police have registered a case under sections 279 (reckless driving), 338 (causing serious injury to any person) and 304 A (wrongful death) of the IPC.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief at the loss of life in a traffic accident in Himachal Pradesh and conveyed his condolences to grieving family members.
In a tweet, he said that the government is carrying out rescue and relief work, and wishes a speedy recovery for the injured. —With PTI
