About 60 people were detained near Shaheedi Park in central Delhi on Saturday for allegedly holding a protest in support of the so-called ‘chakka jam’ given by farmers agitating against the Center’s new agricultural laws, police said. The protesters were from different organizations, they said.

Farmers unions had announced a nationwide ‘chakka jam’ on Monday to protest the internet ban in areas near their agitation sites, harassment allegedly imposed by authorities and other problems. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a coordinating body of farmers’ unions, had previously said that protesters will not block roads in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the ‘chakka jam’.
