50 lakh new jobs, home delivery of rations: BJP publishes manifesto for Tamil Nadu assembly elections


The BJP is fighting in the elections together with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and is seeking to retain power. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by MK Stalin, is the challenger seeking to overthrow the AIADMK government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its manifesto for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Monday. The party promised 50 lakhs of jobs and home delivery of rations, among other promises.

Other promises include the implementation of the law against the slaughter of cows. The BJP has said in its election document that the movement of cows to Kerala and other states for beef will be banned.

The manifesto also promises to enact an anti-conversation law that will criminalize religious conversation.

“I am sure that NDA will get the majority in Tamil Nadu. We will have a new government and Tamil Nadu will develop as a progressive state,” said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who was present at the publication of the manifesto.

The BJP also promised to give fishermen 6,000 annual aid as farmers and a separate budget for agriculture like other BJP states.

Elections for 234 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu will take place on April 6 and the vote count will take place on May 2.

The term of the fifteenth legislative assembly in Tamil Nadu ends on May 2, 2021. Up to 6,28,23,749 voters will choose candidates for the sixteenth legislative assembly in Tamil Nadu.

In the 2016 assembly elections, AIADMK won 134 seats, DMK won 80 seats, and Congress managed to secure only eight seats. The BJP went blank.
