At least five MPs from the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal can resign from the party at any time, Bharatiya Janata party MP Arjun Singh said on Saturday.
The list includes TMC party veterans and heavyweights such as Saugata Roy and Suvendu Adhikari, Singh added.
“At least five TMC MPs could resign at any time. Saugata Roy may speak on behalf of TMC in front of the camera, but he will also join the list once the camera is removed, ”Singh told the media on Saturday.
“In the next few days, the BJP will form a government (in West Bengal). The day Suvendu Adhikari joins BJP; the current TMC government will not be able to remain in power. The government will fall, ”he added.
Roy, however, has dismissed the claims as BJP propaganda and said that he would leave politics or die, but would never join the BJP.
“Arjun Singh is a well-known Bahubali and a defendant. It could be your dream or part of the BJP propaganda. I will quit politics and die, but I will never join the BJP. I’m not a salable good, ”Roy said.
Adhikari, who also holds the portfolio of the state’s transportation minister, has been issuing a veiled challenge to TMC leaders for the past few days. However, Adhikari could not be reached.
Top TMC leaders had previously said that Adhikari was particularly unhappy with the organizational decisions made by Abhishek Banerjee, a member of the Lok Sabha and nephew of Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee and election strategist, Prashant Kishor, who was caught after the BJP won 18 out of 42 state Lok Sabha seats in 2019.
Shaming the ruling TMC, some of his party lawmakers have already spoken out against election strategist Kishor, while an MLA, who was branded a rebel last month, has said that Mamata Banerjee is no longer in control of the match.
Firhad Hakim, a minister has accused the BJP of playing dirty politics.
