5 Telangana girls allege sexual abuse by the director during a pandemic


At least five girls, between the ages of seven and eleven, were allegedly sexually exploited.

The principal of a government primary school in Telangana was arrested after being accused of repeated sexual exploitation of student girls. The school is located in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

The principal, who is in his 40s, and another teacher had been teaching every other day since August after the state government decided that 50 percent of teachers would attend school due to the pandemic.

Recently, two girls reportedly fell ill and one of them told her mother about repeated sexual abuse by the director.

Subsequently, other children were questioned and at least five girls, aged between seven and eleven, were allegedly sexually exploited. The girls were sent for a medical examination.

The girls were reportedly shown pornographic material and then forced to perform sexual acts. He had reportedly threatened the children not to report the matter.

The police have registered cases of rape and POCSO, the law of sexual crimes that exploit children, against men.

“Since the girls are very small, we are working together with ICDS counselors and staff. This is a tribal area and it is a small school,” Bhadradri Kothagudem District Police Chief Sunil Dutt told NDTV.
