WASHIGNTON: Up to five plagues have come out of China in the past 20 years and at some point it has to stop, the US National Security Adviser said. USA Robert O’Brien, blaming the country for the origin of the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 250,000 people worldwide.
People around the world will rise up and tell the Chinese government that “we can no longer let these pests out of China,” whether from laboratories or wet markets, neither is a good response, he told reporters on the White House on Tuesday.
“We know it came from Wuhan and I think there is circumstantial evidence that it could have come from the lab or the wet market. But then again, if you’re from China, it’s not a good answer either,” O’Brien said.
“We have had five plagues in China in the past 20 years. We have had SARS, bird flu, swine flu, COVID-19 now and how much longer can the world endure this terrible public health situation that you have in the People’s Republic of China it’s breaking out in the world, “said the senior US official.

He did not, however, mention the fifth plague that came out of China.
“I mean, this is, at some point, it has to stop. We offered to send health professionals to help the Chinese. They rejected that,” he said.
When asked that the United States is still looking for evidence on the origin of the virus, he declined to give a deadline.
“I can’t give you a time frame on that. That is something that we are continuing to review and it is obviously a very serious concern.”

“Look, China has to figure out how to deal with its public health because we can’t have another one of these virus and pest outbreaks coming from China. This was a terrible thing that happened to everyone, not just the United States,” he said.
More than 250,000 people have died from the coronavirus and more than 4 million infected people worldwide. The United States is the most affected country with more than 80,000 deaths and 1.4 million cases.
“The world economy closed, and this is not the first time it has happened. It is the fifth time it has happened in 20 years, and it has to stop. China needs help.”
“They need help from the rest of the world. And we are prepared to help China deal with public health crises so that we don’t have to deal with this problem again,” O’Brien added.
