Calcutta:
More than 5 lakh people in the country will take an online test on the “holy cow” on Thursday. The University Scholarship Commission has written to the vice-chancellors of 900 universities in the country to encourage students to take the central government’s “science of the indigenous cow” exam.
The brainchild of Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog, established in 2019 under the Central Ministry of Livestock, the study material on its website says almost what Bengal’s BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said. That Indian cows have something special in their humps that turn the sun’s rays into gold and give their milk its yellow color ”.
For the hour-long online exam, study material shared by Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog says that cow dung is used as radiation protection at nuclear centers in India and Russia. It had also protected the residents of Bhopal from the gas leak. The material also claims that Indian cows have a special power to absorb energy from the sun with the help of the solar pulse located on their humps. As a result, Indian cow’s milk, cow manure, and cow urine are nutritious.
“It is not at all scientific. We want to project its importance of the Indian breed of cow. Therefore, we are conducting this review,” said Vallabhai Kathiria, President Rashtriya Kamdhenu Ayog. He had announced the exams at a press meeting in Delhi on January 5. On February 12, UGC had written to universities across the country asking them to promote participation in the “Kamdhenu gau vigyan prachar prasar” exam.
Kolkata ABVP Vice President Aditya Das said: “We are very clear on our notion. We will go to the public with our knowledge, information and the sacredness and economic benefits of the cow. People will decide. Why teachers are do you overreact? “
Professors and students at Jadavpur University are amazed by UGC’s request. Jadavpur is one of 900 universities that have been asked to promote the exam.
“The central government is not giving Rs 60 million to Jadavpur University for research. What it is trying to do is inject a specific ideology into the students,” said Professor Partha Roy from the Physics department of Jadavpur University. .
Samantak das, a professor in the English department, has said, “I’m afraid there is a pretty well thought-out plan behind this. You are trying to legitimize the falsehoods. I don’t even call them later truths.”
Registration for the exams, which will be conducted in 13 languages, opened on January 15, 2021. Aayog spokesperson Pureesh Kumar claims 5 lakh, 10,000 people have registered so far. This is the first time such an exam has been performed. Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog expects the number of examinees and cows to multiply in the coming years. All exam participants will receive certificates of recognition.
