Thirty people have died after heavy rains wreaked havoc in Telangana today, leaving roads that look like rivers, cars completely submerged and washed away by powerful currents and buildings almost completely flooded.
As many as 15 deaths were reported in Hyderabad alone, including a two-month-old baby, with flooding in low-lying areas of the city. Another nine died after a wall of the complex collapsed and fell on 10 houses during the heavy nighttime rain.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke today with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, or KCR, and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Jaganmohan Reddy, whose status was similarly affected yesterday, assuring them of all possible support from the central government.
Union Interior Minister Amit Shah said he is “closely monitoring the situation in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (and that the) Modi government is committed to providing all possible assistance to the people of both states at this time. of necessity “. “My thoughts and prayers are with those affected,” he said.
In horrifying footage from the H’s Barkas neighborhood, a man was seen being washed away by floods. Two people could be seen, who managed to find shelter on a nearby elevated road, watching helplessly as the man was carried away by the current.
According to the PTI news agency, the man was subsequently rescued safely with the help of police and locals.

Also according to PTI, in the posh Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad, a 49-year-old man who ran a naturopathic clinic was electrocuted while trying to draw water from the basement of his flooded home.
At least five people have been reported missing and the police are searching for them.

Power outages were also reported throughout the state as rain ripped out power poles.
The power supply was discontinued elsewhere as a precaution. Telangana Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao held a meeting with the South Telangana State Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) and urged to restore electricity supply as soon as possible.

Thousands of acres of farmland were also submerged.
The NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and the Army have been called in to assist with relief and rescue efforts.
The Army has deployed relief and rescue columns in the event of flooding in the Bandlaguda area, according to a statement. Meanwhile, the NDRF said it had evacuated more than 1,000 people from flooded areas in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.

The Telangana government declared a holiday for all government offices and private institutions for Wednesday and Thursday, and urged people to stay indoors unless there was an emergency.
IMD Hyderabad weather forecasts show some relief, with warnings “nil” and only “light to moderate rain expected … in FEW places”. However, there are thunderstorm warnings for the weekend.
In Andhra Pradesh, heavy rains damaged roads and disrupted power supplies in several locations. A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said 10 people had died in rain-related incidents in the past 48 hours.
Yesterday, rainfall ranging from 11 cm to 24 cm was recorded in more than a hundred places in Andhra Pradesh, according to the Department of Meteorology. The worst affected districts were East Godavari, West Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Krishna.
