Near the conversion of six Muslim families to Hinduism in the Danodha Kalan village in the Jind district, 30 families from the Muslim community announced today that they will convert to Hinduism in the Bithmara village of the Uklana block of the district.

The sources said that the Bithmara families have social relationships with the Danodha Kalan families. Like the Danodha Kalan families, these families also belong to the Mirasi Muslim community and work as Doms (traditional singers).

They made the decision to embrace Hinduism after the disappearance of an elderly Phulli Devi today. Satbir Ahlawat, son of the deceased, reported that his mother died today and that his family cremated the body according to Hindu rituals.

“In official documents, we are Doms who are programmed caste Hindus. Except for cremation, we have been following the socio-religious activities of the Hindus, “he said.

“Previously, our families had been following the tradition of burying the dead according to Islam. But we also decided to eliminate that tradition and we decided to cremate my mother’s body according to Hindu traditions, ”he said, adding that there are approximately 150 members in 30 families in the village.

He said that they never visit a mosque and, in fact, the town does not have a mosque. “Our towns are close to the Jat houses and we enjoy pleasant social relationships with them. We work as workers in their fields and we also help them during social functions, ”he added. Satish Patar, another villager, said there have never been fissures in the village’s communal lines. “These people make a living working in the fields and singing traditional” saangs. “If they have decided to convert to Hinduism, we appreciate their decision. But there is no pressure on them to do so,” he said.
