3 killed and 15 wounded in Karachi explosion as “civil war” -like situation erupts in Pakistan | World News

At least three people were killed and around 15 injured after an explosion struck a four-story building in Karachi, Pakistan, on Wednesday (October 21). The massive explosion is known to have occurred in a building in front of the Maskan gate of the University of Karachi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

All the injured and deceased were taken to hospital, Dawn reported. Police had not yet determined the cause of the explosion, but it is claimed that it “appears to be a cylinder explosion”. The explosion took place on the second floor of a building. On Tuesday, five people were injured when a bomb exploded at a bus terminal near the Sheerin Jinnah neighborhood.

The death took place at a time when the chief of the Pakistani army, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, ordered an investigation into rumors that the Sindh police chief was abducted by Pakistani army troops to pressure the police in Karachi to arrest Safdar Awan, the son-in-law. of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif.

According to The International Herald, 10 Karachi policemen were killed in clashes that broke out in Pakistan’s financial capital. He also claimed that a “civil war” had broken out following violent clashes between the police and the army.

The Pakistan Army’s media wing said in a statement that the army chief, Bajwa, had ordered the Karachi corps commander to “immediately investigate the circumstances” to determine the facts and submit a report as soon as possible.

It should be remembered that Safdar and Maryam, who is also vice president of the PML-N, were in Karachi for a few days to participate in a demonstration of the opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) when Safdar was arrested in his hotel room. It is known that the Karachi police detained Safdar for allegedly disrespecting the mausoleum of the country’s founder, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Safdar was later released on bail.
