New Delhi, September 5

Despite the current tension with China, the Indian army has helped three Chinese citizens who were lost in the higher reaches of the Tibetan plateau. The three of them were traveling by car and reached the north of Sikkim.

The area is a flat plateau, at an altitude of 17,500 feet, and the Tibetan Plateau and the North Sikkim Plateau are contiguous.

All three, including a woman, possibly took a wrong turn in the treeless landscape and reached north Sikkim.

The incident took place on September 3.

The armies of India and China are locked in a tense military confrontation in Ladakh. A danger loomed over their lives as temperatures are below freezing.

The Indian army immediately reached out and provided them with medical assistance including oxygen, food and warm clothing to protect them from the vagaries of extreme altitude and harsh weather conditions.

The Chinese trio received the proper guidance to reach their destination.

One soldier even checked the car’s oil, fuel pump, and other engine parameters. These tend to malfunction in extreme cold conditions.

“Chinese citizens expressed their gratitude to India and the Indian military for their prompt assistance,” said an army spokesman.
