A day after Australia beat India in the first ODI that marked the start of the Down Under tour of India, former England captain Michael Vaughan had taken to Twitter to make a bold prediction. “Call ahead … I think Australia will beat India on this tour in all formats convincingly,” Vaughan had tweeted. On Sunday, India won the second T20 International (T20I) against Australia in Sydney. Having also won the first game in Canberra, India now leads the series 2-0.
Former India hitter and current Kings XI Punjab coach Wasim Jaffer, who has taken Twitter by storm with witty posts and hilarious memes, was quick to remind Vaughan about his “early call” with a still from the movie “Gangs of Wasseypur “.

India won the draw and chose to go bowling. Reserve captain Matthew Wade led the way for Australia, breaking 58 of 32 deliveries. Steve Smith also hit 46 of 38, while some valuable contributions from the middle order saw Australia score 194/5.
T Natarajan was India’s best bowler, taking two wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs.
In return India got off to a good start, with the former opening a 56-race position before Andrew Tye returned KL Rahul. India captain Virat Kohli then joined Shikhar Dhawan on the fold and soon, the southpaw scored his eleventh T20I half a century.
Despite the layoffs of Dhawan and Sanju Samson, Kohli kept the pressure on Australia, scoring 40 of 24 balls.
After Kohli went down at the start of the 17th, Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer took India to the other side of the line in a thrilling finish. While Iyer made the most of the five deliveries he faced, scoring 12 runs, Hardik provided the firepower India needed in the death.

The all-star off-roader, still not bowling regularly due to fitness issues, broke 42 of 22 deliveries in a hit punctuated by three limits and two sixes.
The third T20I will be played on Tuesday and will be followed by the four-game test series between the two sides.
