When the monsoon session of Parliament began on Monday, 25 members of both Houses tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). While 17 Lok Sabha MPs have contracted the disease, up to eight members of the Rajya Sabha were found to be infected.
The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) said it has carried out tests on more than 2,500 samples from members of Parliament and other officials “on the warpath” over the weekend.
The reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test would continue until next week for members of Parliament, officials said.
