A total of 24 Border Security Force (BSF) staff members tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura on Thursday, bringing the number of new coronavirus cases in the state to 88, Prime Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said.
All new cases were reported at the headquarters of the 86th BSF battalion located in Ambassa in the Dhalai district, he said.
“ALERT! 24 people from 86-Bn #BSF Ambassa found # COVID19 POSITIVE today. Total # COVID19 patients in Tripura is now found: 88 Active cases: 86 discharged: 02 No POSITIVE cases among civilians. Stay safe”, Deb tweeted on Thursday night.

Additional chief secretary S K Rakesh said earlier in the night that 916 samples of BSF personnel and civilians from the Dhalai district have been sent for testing. “We are prepared even if the number of COVID-19 cases increases further in Tripura,” he said.
