While US President Donald Trump is facing pressure to admit defeat in the presidential election, key states are preparing to certify the results to officially confirm Joe Biden as president-elect. Trump has been making unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud, however this week he could formally seal the deal for Biden, paving the way for the transition.
“In certain undecided states, there were more votes than people who did, and in large numbers. That does not really matter? Stopping Poll Watchers, voting for unsuspecting people, fake ballots and much more. What atrocious behavior. We will win! “Trump tweeted, which was immediately flagged by Twitter as” disputed. “
Where are things currently in key states?
Pennsylvania
Biden currently leads in the state by more than 81,000 votes and most counties except Philadelphia and Berks are expected to meet Monday to certify the election results. This comes after a US judge rejected the Trump campaign’s request for an injunction to prevent state officials from certifying the results of the Pennsylvania elections.
Judge Matthew Brann in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, ruled that Trump “has no authority to take away the right to vote from a single person, much less millions of citizens.” Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, had claimed on Thursday that Trump led Pennsylvania by more than 700,000 votes, calling it “statistically impossible” to lose the state from that point.

Georgia
Georgia on Friday certified the results showing a narrow victory for Biden after a manual recount, and state Republicans approved it. The Trump campaign has called for another automatic ballot scan, but according to US media reports, Biden’s lead over the incumbent is unlikely to change. Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski tweeted that “it is time to begin the full and formal transition process.”
Michigan
Biden has an advantage of more than 150,000 votes in Michigan and the state is ready to certify his results Monday. The canvassing board is scheduled to meet Monday to decide on the certification, but a key Republican member of the board is expected to vote against the certification of the results. Republican member Norman Shinkle had indicated in media interviews that he would vote against certifying the election results, which would help Trump delay the transition.
Arizona
Biden turned the traditionally red state upside down in the presidential election with a narrow lead of more than 10,000 votes. Election results in Grand Canyon State are scheduled for certification on November 30. Maricopa County has already certified its results, giving Biden a decisive margin of victory of 45,109 votes.
Wisconsin
Biden leads Badger State by more than 20,000 votes as the recount continues in two counties, Dane and Milwaukee, following a request from the Trump campaign. Counties are expected to count every day until Dec. 1, the state’s certification deadline. Giuliani had argued that Trump would have won the state if officials drew all the votes from the blue areas in Wisconsin that overwhelmingly voted for Biden. But the Trump campaign has failed to nullify more than 60,000 Dane County votes.
