2020 US elections: what happened in the 4 days since November 3 – US presidential election

While Joe Biden is on the cusp of victory on Saturday, the last four days have been very busy for the United States and almost exhausting for the world as everyone is watching the results of the US presidential election unfold. With thousands of votes yet to be counted, it is the first since 2000 that Americans have waited so long for the results of the presidential election. According to projections so far, Joe Biden has 264 electoral votes and President Trump has 214.

Here is everything that has happened in the last four days:

1. There is no clear winner yet, as most news organizations have yet to call the battlefield states. But Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is a surprising distance from being the next president of the United States after winning in Michigan and Wisconsin. Biden has been able to catch the Midwestern states that rendered the 2016 verdict for President Donald Trump.

2. Biden has been leading in Pennsylvania, a state that elected Trump in 2016.

3. Biden is ahead in Arizona in the west and Georgia in the south.

4. But the Democratic Party has not been able to change Florida, Texas and Iowa.

5. Predictions before the elections had repeatedly reiterated that there will be a blue wave for Democrats, but the electoral race is as tight as in 2016; showing that President Trump still enjoys great popularity. Biden has not received the wide margins across the country that many liberals expected.

6. The Biden campaign has continually focused on making sure all votes are counted, as much depends on the first few mail ballots, while the Trump campaign is fighting various lawsuits to stop the vote counting.

7. President Trump has been incessantly tweeting about voter fraud, but has failed to prove the same.

8. There have been protests from both sides showing that the first great challenge facing the next president is to unite the country.

9. Twitter has actively tried to reduce misinformation from both sides, as the social media platform pointed to Trump’s tweets alleging voter fraud and also tweets calling Biden “president-elect.”

10. Most news organizations are wary of calling states to the battlefield, especially Pennsylvania, which has 20 electoral votes and could be a game changer if Biden can take the state.

11. In India, the people of the ancestral village of Kamala Harris have been in favor of her and Biden’s victory. Harris is Biden’s running mate.
