The Kings XI Punjab’s victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday did little to turn the point table, but it certainly gave the competition a new boost. It was KXIP’s second win of the season and led them to 4 points in 8 games. If KXIP continues to score two or three wins in a row, it would certainly push them to the top half of the table.
RCB maintained its third position, but its Net Execution Rate fell to -0.139, and it is these criteria that will be crucial in determining the top four.
DC retains first place with 12 points, MI is second, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in third place, with both teams with 10 points each. The Kolkata Knight Riders rank fourth with eight points from seven games, while David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad continue in fifth place with six points. Joining them are Chennai Super Kings, three-time IPL champions MS Dhoni, in sixth place, also with six points from eight games.
Orange cap
KL Rahul extended his lead on the Orange Cap roster with a 61-run inning against RCB. Once again, Rahul continues to dominate and holds the 2020 IPL orange cap so far with 448 runs at an average of 74.66.
Virat Kohli, who scored 48 runs in the match, entered the top five on the list, ranked No. 4 ahead of Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer, while David Warner came out of the top five.
Purple cap
While Kagiso Rabada maintained his lead on the Purple Cap list, it was KXIP’s Mohammed Shami who picked up two wickets to enter the top five with 12 wickets, just below Jofra Archer. RCB’s Yuzvendra Chahal also picked up a wicket to return to the top five on the list, at no. 4 positions with 11 windows.
On Friday, Kolkata Knight Riders will face the defending champions the Mumbai Indians.
