The three-time champions, who needed a win to stay alive in the tournament, defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League Match 29 in Dubai on Tuesday, the victory elevated them to a position in the point table. With six points from eight games, CSK is now sixth in the standings, ahead of seventh place for the Rajasthan Royals and the last Kings XI Punjab.

The result has not made any difference for SRH, which maintains the fifth position in the points table. The team’s standings are still led by the Mumbai Indians, who seem to have finally put their troubles of the even years behind them and performed splendidly to bring their tally to 10 points after five wins. Also with 10 points are the Delhi Capitals in second place, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in third place. The only thing that separates these three teams and their ranking is the net run rate.
