The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has had its fair share of umpiring errors and another controversial decision related to the removal of David Warner appeared on Friday during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s knockout match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi.
After winning the toss, SRH produced a brilliant bowling effort to restrict a heavy hitting RCB to a modest 131/7. Jason Holder led the Orange Army bowling attack with impressive figures of 3/25 and was supported by T Natarajan (2/33).
Chasing, SRH took an early hit when Shreevats Goswami was sent back to the pavilion at the first change. David Warner rallied with Manish Pandey to bring his team to 35/1 after 5 overs.
In the sixth over, thrown by Mohammed Siraj, problems arose for SRH as Warner was found guilty of being fired for catching him from behind. Although the initial decision was a no out, upon review by RCB, the third referee decided that there was sufficient contact with Warner’s glove and decided it was an out.

Big window at stake, close call @imVkohli he opts for the DRS at the last minute and the third referee rules out Warner. Excellent review from the RCB captain.

Warner went to defend a swinging delivery and the DRS caught a sound as the ball went through the bat and the batter’s body, specifically under the glove and over the thigh pad.
The decision has divided experts and commentators, as some believed that there was no contact with the ball to be considered to be trapped from behind.
It seemed that the tip and the ball in the glove were together. It’s not a good way to do it, but that’s what reviews are for. pic.twitter.com/m8zi5NlV1R

Incredible decision by the third referee. David Warner has every reason to explode. Original decision not issued and never conclusive evidence to revoke

Warner went 17 of 17 balls, leaving SRH at 43/2 after 5.4 overs and in some trouble in pursuit. Hyderabad has since stumbled as they now struggle at 87/4 after 15 overs.
In the early innings, SRH got off to a good start sending the two starters, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, to the cabin early on. Jason Holder within four overs. AB de Villiers (56 of 43) scored a timely half-century to rescue RCB from a horrible start and push the team past the 120-run mark.
