Former India starter Aakash Chopra and Kings XI Punjab all-rounder Jimmy Neesham became embroiled in a war of words on Twitter after the former questioned the New Zealander’s position at KXIP Playing XI.
Chopra criticized KXIP’s strategies after their 48-run loss to the Mumbai Indians at IPL 2020. The former starter who currently works as a commentator in the Indian Premier League, said KXIP should seek to replace Neesham, who said he is not neither a finalist with the bat nor a bowler who can throw in the powerplay.
When a user pointed out Chopra’s comments to Neesham, the Kiwi all-rounder replied, “Averaging 18.5 hits in 90, you don’t win many games either.”

Chopra was not the one to back down. He responded by saying that he is paid to express his opinion on the game.
“Correct my friend. That’s why nobody chooses me anymore. They pay me to do something else. I’m glad you don’t have a problem with my observations, but with my cricket statistics. May the rest of the #IPL go well, ”Chopra tweeted.
The matter did not end there. Some users began advising Neesham to focus on his game rather than find fault with his critics. The multi-talented New Zealander later tweeted: “Twitter criticizes your opinion of other people’s opinions because everyone can have an opinion.”
Neesham hasn’t been able to show any good performances at IPL 2020 so far. The Kiwi off-roader has won two terrains in the current edition and has awarded races at an economic rate of 10.31.
Bat in hand, Neesham has registered just seven runs in three games.
Kings XI Punjab is currently in seventh place with two points from four games.
The side will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on October 4 at the Dubai International Stadium.
