Noida:

The Kisan Sena Farmers Union said thousands of its members from western Uttar Pradesh will march to Delhi on Thursday in support of the Center’s new agricultural laws.

The march will have members coming together from the Braj area, which includes districts such as Mathura, Agra, Firozabad, Hathras and will also feature supporters from Meerut and Muzaffarnagar in western UP, the union said.

“We have written to the concerned authorities asking for permission regarding our march to Delhi, but have not received a reply. In any case, around 20,000 Kisan Sena supporters will be on their way to Delhi to meet with Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh. Take, Thursday, “said Kisan Sena, coordinator Thakur Gauri Shankar Singh told the PTI news agency.

“We want to meet with the minister and inform him that the ongoing protests at the Delhi borders by unions from Punjab and Haryana certainly include farmers, but they do not represent farmers from all over India or other states like UP,” Singh said .

He added that his faction will inform the government of problems affecting farmers in other states and in UP.

When asked about the plans if his union members are not allowed to move to Delhi, he said the situation will be dealt with under the conditions on Thursday, but affirmed to go ahead with the planned march.

The Kisan Sena march is scheduled even as farmers’ union like the Bharatiya Kisan Union and its UP splinter groups have remained in Ghaziabad and Noida for more than three weeks, demanding that the three new agricultural laws be repealed.

The protesters who have gathered in Ghaziabad and Noida want to go to Delhi to join the great uproar called mainly by the Punjab and Haryana farmers unions.

Thousands of farmers are currently camping outside the borders of Delhi with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in protest against the three new agricultural laws: the Trade in Agricultural Products and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Act of 2020, the Price Assurance Agreement for Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) and Agricultural Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.

They have expressed their fear that these laws will pave the way for the dismantling of the minimum support price system, leaving them at the “mercy” of large corporations. However, the government has argued that the new laws will provide farmers with better opportunities and usher in new technologies in agriculture.
