All passengers who returned on the flight were quarantined at hotels identified by the district administrations in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.
The Karnataka government confirmed that 20 people who returned to Mangaluru from Dubai on the repatriation flight that arrived on Tuesday tested positive for COVID-19.
All the passengers who returned on the flight were quarantined by the Dakshina Kannada district administration at the hotels they identified. They have now been transferred to designated hospitals in Mangaluru and Udupi.
Of the 20 patients, 15 patients are from the Dakshina Kannada district, while 5 patients are from the Udupi district. Upon arrival at Mangaluru International Airport, the people of Dakshina Kannada were quarantined in hotels in the district, while the people of Udupi were transported to Udupi and quarantined in hotels and hostels.
The number of reported COVID-19 cases in Dakshina Kannada increased to 43, while the cases in Udupi increased to 8. This is the first time in 47 days that a case of coronavirus has been reported from the Udupi district.
In all, 179 passengers had returned to Mangaluru on the organized flight on Wednesday, including 38 pregnant women. 49 of the passengers were from the Udupi district, while 125 passengers were from the Dakshina Kannada district.
Dakshina Kannada passengers were given the choice of 4 budget hotels, 7 mid-range hotels, 5 high-rank hotels, a hostel and two temple accommodation facilities in Dharmasthala and Subramanya.
With reports of international passengers returning positive, the number of coronavirus cases in the state increased to 1032. On Friday, cases were reported at Dakshina Kannada 16, Bengaluru Urban 13, Udupi 5, Bidar 3, Hassan 3, Chitradurga 2, Shivamogga 1, Kolar 1 and Bagalkote 1.
476 virus-infected patients have fully recovered in the state, while 35 positive patients have succumbed to death.
