2 CRPF men killed and 3 wounded in terrorist attack in Pampore, southern Kashmir


Two staff members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who were injured in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Srinagar, Kashmir, succumbed to their injuries, authorities said Monday. Three other CRPF staff members were also injured when terrorists opened fire on a battalion’s road opening group (ROP) on the Pampore bypass near Srinagar earlier that day.

According to officials, the injured CRPF staff were evacuated to the district hospital, where the two succumbed to their injuries. Terrorists fired on the party around 12:50 pm when CRPF troops along with Jammu and Kashmir police personnel were conducting road-opening operations.

Traffic was stopped on the road after the attack and security forces are conducting a search operation.

“110 Bn CRPF troops together with JKP performing ROP During which unknown terrorists (12:50 hours) fired at the troops. In this incident, a total of 05 CRPF staff members were injured and evacuated to the District Hospital, ”said a CRPF statement.
