NEW DELHI: The Home Office said on Wednesday that a multi-layered security approach had been taken to the security and protection of Census 2021 data, with data to be encrypted during transmission and also in storage on servers.
The data collection will be carried out in registered devices of the enumerators designated by the State / UT governments. Data is encrypted on device, during transmission, and on servers / storage. The services of system integrators have been contracted to develop the mobile applications, the management of the census portal and related activities, ”MoS (home) Nityanand Rai told the Elders in a written response to a question.
Stating that the first phase of the housing listing-related census operations was currently on hold due to Covid-19, some sources TOI spoke with previously indicated that both the census and NPR exercises may be postponed until April 1, 2021 or possibly even later, depending on how the pandemic unfolds in the coming months: Rai said that all enumerators should register with the Indian Census portal before undertaking enumeration work.
Meanwhile, even as operations related to the first phase of the 2021 Census and other activities related to the field remain on hold, the RGI-Census Commissioner’s office continues with publicity campaigns on various aspects of the decennial exercise.
