The third AC special bus has the capacity to carry 72 passengers.

BENGALURU Southwest railway has attached a third additional CA bus to Train No. 02691 KSR Bengaluru City-New Delhi Superfast AC Express that left Bangalore on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. to transport 19 passengers, who had arrived from New Delhi on Thursday morning but refused to institutionally quarantine for 14 days.
The tension prevailed in KSR Bengaluru City Train Station Thursday morning after some passengers, who had arrived from New Delhi-Bengaluru One-Way Superfast Express Special (Train No. 02492) at 7.18 am from Delhi, refused, for the institutional quarantine.
“We had given the option to about 140 passengers, however, only 19 were willing to travel back and the rest agreed to be under institutional quarantine. Of the 19 passengers, 12 will go to Secunderabad, Guntakal (two passengers), Anantapur (four) and New Delhi (one), “said the head of public relations, SWR, E Vijaya.
A total of 543 passengers arrived at the station from the train that left New Delhi via Anantapur, Guntakal, Secunderabad, Nagpur, Bhopal and Jhansi. SWR officials said around 150 of the 543 passengers were involved in the protest. “Others cooperated with us and agreed to go to institutional quarantine, as it is a political decision made by the state government,” said an official.
According to the authorities, protesting the passengers’ demand was to allow them to quarantine their home or allow them to return home.
Inspector General of Police, Railways, D Roopa spoke to protesters. However, they reiterated their demand and refused to budge until Thursday night.
“They requested that they be allowed to travel from Bengaluru to their respective boarding stations. They have also agreed to bear the ticket fees. So we ask the railways to add an additional bus to accommodate passengers, “he said.
Following this, SWR (Bangalore) railway division manager Ashok Kumar Verma contacted senior rail officials about the lawsuit and received approval from an additional coach. “He is a third air conditioning coach and has a capacity of 72 seats. The railway board approved it after considering the request from the police and BBMP, as well as taking into account the situation of law and order.” Verma said.
To avoid a similar situation in the future, the railways plan to distribute flyers to passengers in the New Delhi railway station. “We have agreed to add an additional trainer as many people claimed that they were not aware of the mandatory institutional quarantine rule in Karnataka. We will send SMS and notifications on the IRCTC reservation site to keep passengers informed about this rule, ”said an official.
Each train will carry an average of 1,076 people. While passenger trains will not arrive on May 15 (Friday), there will be daily trains between New Delhi and Bangalore starting on Saturday.
