A 14-year-old girl was killed and dumped in a field on the outskirts of a village below the area of the Gopiganj police station in Bhadohi district on Thursday noon, police said.
The incident occurred when the girl left her home to work.
“The girl’s relatives said that she went to work at noon. When she didn’t return for more than an hour and a half, they looked for her. Later, they found her body lying in a millet field. There was blood everywhere. Relatives rushed her to a hospital where the doctors declared her dead, “said a police officer.
The officer said the unidentified assailants stoned the girl to death and dumped her body in the field.
Police Superintendent Bhadohi Rambadan Singh, who inspected the site, said that a case had been registered against unidentified assailants under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A team has been formed to identify the aggressors involved in the incident and ensure their arrest.
When asked if the girl was also raped, the SP said it is now unable to say anything about it.
“The body has been sent for an autopsy. The exam will determine whether or not she was raped. We are investigating the matter, ”said the SP.
