In Florida, 10,557 new cases were reported Saturday, killing 71 residents


The Florida Department of Health reported 10,557 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

It marked the third day in a row with more than 10,000 new cases in the state.

Florida has also reported an additional 71 deaths as a result of COVID-19.

According to the health department, there are 1,116,973 cases of CIVID-19 and 19,785 resident deaths in the state.

Florida has also reported that at least 264 residents have died here, and at least 57,986 have been hospitalized thanks to the novel coronavirus since the outbreak.

The statewide positive rate was 7.91% from yesterday’s test. The 14-day average positivity rate is 8.12% and the 7-day average is 8.01%.

The previous day’s confirmed deaths included six in Miami-Dade County, two in Broward County and one in Palm Beach County.

The latest figures come as the United States received vaccine approval from the FDA on Friday. Residents of Florida’s long-term care facility could get their vaccine shots next week, said government Ron Descentis.

On Wednesday, the health department released the latest list of schools across the state that confirmed the COVID-19 case. There are at least 1,217 cases involving primary and secondary schools, the data show.
