As the debate over the Redskins’ name change continues to gain momentum, people everywhere are evaluating possible options for a change.
When scanning social media, the leaders in the clubhouse seem to be the Washington Warriors, Redtails and Redhawks.
At least one of those names has the blessing of a player that fans hope will eventually become the face of the franchise.

With several former Ohio state players on the team, Dwayne Haskins, Chase Young, Terry McLaurin, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller turned the idea of changing the Redskins over to the Buckeyes. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins responded by saying he liked Redtails.

The Redtails were a group of Tuskegee Airmen, all-black fighter pilots during World War II.
Haskins said “that’s if we have to change the name,” making it clear that he is not taking a stand on whether the team should change the name.
Reports have suggested that a name change is likely before the 2020 season begins.

As the Washington soccer team reflects on the increasingly likely decision to change its Redskins name, the Harlem Globetrotters’ parent company suggested on Friday that it would be interested in giving the team another option.
According to Action Network’s Darren Rovell, a spokesperson for Herschend Entertainment said the company would “love” the Redskins or the NFL to call about buying the rights to the name of the Washington Generals.

Generals are the Globetrotters’ frequent opponent, almost always on the losing end of the fun basketball competition. Herschend Entertainment owns trademarks for both the Generals and Globetrotters.
“We believe the Globetrotters are the world’s most beloved team with Manchester United and the New York Yankees,” said Brett Meister, the spokesman. “Our heritage includes the Washington generals.”
The generals also have other local ties, as the team’s former owner / coach / player Red Klotz was a member of the 1948 title-winning Baltimore Bullets.
